Children Can Explore World of Nature Through Gardening Activities in Somers

Submitted by Westchester County, posted by Plamena Pesheva.

Contrary to what some people may believe, successful gardeners are not born but “grown,” and youngsters ages 5 through 11 can have fun as they learn some of the basics during the “Adventures in Horticulture” summer program to be offered July 1 through July 5 at Lasdon Park and Arboretum in Somers.

Master Gardener Caroline Fanelli will show children how to explore the world of nature through gardening activities such as planting flowers and vegetables in the Children’s Garden, taking nature walks, and enjoying gardening projects and crafts to take home.

Children ages 5 to 8 will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, and ages 8 to 11 meet from 2 – 4 p.m.

The cost is $100, which includes supplies, and pre-registration is required.

For more information and to register, call (914) 886-5108.

Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is a Westchester County Park that is located on Route 35 in Somers.
