Construction for Route 202 Project in Yorktown Begins April 15

A public information meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Nutrition Room of the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center

From the New York State Department of Transportation:

The Route 202 Intersection Improvements and Bridge Replacement Project has been awarded to the low bidder and it is under construction.

Night-time construction is expected to begin Monday, April 15 along Route 35/202 between Bear Mountain Parkway Extension and Stony Street. This will last one to two weeks.

Any necessary lane closures will take place after the evening rush hour and the lanes will be reopened to traffic prior to the morning rush hour.

A public information meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Nutrition Room of the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, located at 1974 Commerce Street in Yorktown Heights.

At this meeting, New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) officials will provide an overview of the project plans and construction schedule. 

Construction is expected to be completed in June of 2014. Project highlights include:

  • New signal at Route 35/202 and Pine Grove Court
  • New signal at Bear Mountain Parkway and Stony Street
  • New sidewalks along south side of Route 35/202
  • Trail extension along Bear Mountain Parkway connecting new sidewalk on Stony Street
  • Additional travel lane in both directions along Route 35/202
  • Route 35/202 bridge replacement over Hunter Brook

The contract cost award is $11,584,000, according to DOT officials. For more information, visit the department's website.
