Cops: Mother Leaves Her Two Children Unattended in Vehicle While Shopping

Police said she left her 1-year-old and 8-year-old children in the vehicle while she was shopping in one of the stores at the Staples Plaza in Yorktown.

A 39-year-old Cross River woman is facing criminal charges for leaving her two young children in her car while she shopped, Yorktown police said. 

Police began the investigation on March 30 when they received a report that two children were left unattended in a vehicle at the Staples Plaza, located at 3333 Crompond Road in Yorktown. 

As a result, the woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Police said she had left her 1-year-old and 8-year-old children in the vehicle while she was shopping in one of the stores.

The mother was arrested on April 6 and was later released. She was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on May 7.
