A 20-year-old Mohegan Lake man and a 19-year-old Yorktown man are due in Thursday to answer criminal charges following a burglary investigation, Yorktown police said.
Yorktown police detectives were investigating a burglary of a home that occurred on June 12. Police learned Richard Dunne, of Mohegan Lake, had taken an iPhone and an undisclosed amount of money from the home. He then destroyed the stolen phone, police said. Police did not specify where the burglarized home is located.
The investigation expanded into other larcenies that Dunne and Robert Reichert, of Yorktown, were involved in, police said.
Detectives Shanahan and Lewis recovered items, including a loaded handgun, that were stolen from several local vehicles, police said.
As a result, Dunne was arrested on June 20 and charged with the felony counts of criminal possession of a firearm, criminal mischief; as well as two counts of possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. He was held on $20,000 bail and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on June 27.
Reichert was also arrested on June 20 and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. He was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on June 27.
Both men were not able to make bail and were turned over to the custody of the Westchester County Department of Corrections.
