CT Man Accused Of Not Showing Up For Court Appearance

A bench warrant was issued for his arrest, police said, with the original charge being a first-offense DWI.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Connecticut man was accused of jumping bail and failing to appear in court.

The Yorktown Police Department said Xavier Jarama-Sanchez, 42, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree bail jumping, a misdemeanor, and bench warrant for failure to appear, with the original charge of driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor.

Police said, around 6 p.m. July 6, Jarama-Sanchez failed to show up in the Yorktown Justice Court for a scheduled court appearance regarding the DWI charge.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday, he voluntarily surrendered himself at the Yorktown Police Department and was placed under arrest.

Police said that 30 days had passed since the bench warrant was issued and Jarama-Sanchez was additionally charged with third-degree bail jumping.

After processing, he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

Jarama-Sanchez is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Oct. 3.
