Do You Have 'Rich Zip Code Envy'?

Lots of Westchester postal codes among richest in the country; Yorktown doesn't make the cut.

Bedford's 10506 is one of eight Westchester zip codes that made it onto a list of the nation's richest neighborhoods, according to a list compiled for Businessweek.com:

  1. Purchase's 10577 is #8
  2. Bedford's 10506, which includes Bedford Village, is #22
  3. Scarsdale's 10583  is #35
  4. Chappaqua's 10514 is #37
  5. Armonk's 10504 is #39
  6. Pound Ridge's 10576 is #43
  7. Rye's 10580 is #44
  8. Larchmont's 10538 is #49

Ranked first was Palm Beach, FL, where the number of households has increase by almost 14 percent in the last ten years; the average household income is $370,136 and average home value is $1,486,123.

The study found Bedford's 10506, with 2,028 households, to have grown by almost 8 percent since 2000. The average income was reported as $262,691 and the average household's net worth as $1,402,187.

Yorktown didn't make the cut.

To compile the list, Little Rock data company Gadberry Group looked at all zip codes in the U.S. with more than 100 households and ranked them by the average income and net worth of their households, according to the story.
