Drunk Driver Hits Parked Vehicle; Cops Bust Underage Drinking Party in Yorktown

Drunk Driver Hits Parked Vehicle

A 25-year-old Ossining man faces charges of drunk driving after he allegedly hit a parked vehicle, Yorktown police said. 

McCord H. Chapman was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, having a BAC greater than .18 percent, and aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanors; as well as disobeying a traffic control device, a violation.

The defendant allegedly was driving west bound on Pines Bridge Road on May 27 at about 10:44 p.m. when he ran into the rear of a parked car belonging to a Con-Ed work crew, police said.

Chapman was released to a friend on cash bail and scheduled to appear in court on June 26.

Remaining in Park After Hours

An 18-year-old Mahopac resident was issued a summons for remaining in a Yorktown park a half hour after sunset, police said. 

He was arrested on May 28 at approximately 10:28 p.m. when police observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in the parking lot of Shrub Oak Park. Police said the teen was in the park after hours, which is a violation of the Yorktown town code. The defendant is due in court on June 6. 

Two Cortlandt Manor Residents, 19 and 15, Accused of Stealing a Vehicle

Yorktown supervisor Michael Grace's  was arrested by on May 29 and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, after he allegedly stole a Kings Court resident's car. 

Police said they received a report by the victim on April 22 that the car had been stolen overnight. The stolen car was later recovered on a side street less than a mile from the residence. Interviews by state police in the town of Cortlandt and detectives in Yorktown led to information that Grace was allegedly involved in the theft of the vehicle. 

He was arrested at the Yorktown Town Court on May 29 as he was brought for related previous charges. He is due back in court on June 5.

Grace was also arrested by state police on May 25 following a police pursuit in the towns of Cortlandt and Yorktown and after he crashed an allegedly stolen vehicle in Shrub Oak. Police are continuing to investigate the case. 

In connection to the same case, police arrested a 15-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident, who name police did not release due to his age.

He was charged with juvenile delinquency – the underlying charge had it been committed by an adult would have been fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony. Police said the teen was involved in the theft of the Kings Court resident's car. 

The defendant was arrested at the State Police Barracks in Montrose and later released to his parent. He was scheduled to appear at the Department of Probation June 7. Police are continuing to investigate this case.
