Dutchess Man Accused Of Stealing From Mall Stores
Police said the man was also in possession of crack cocaine.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of having illegals and stealing merchandise from stores at a mall.
The Yorktown Police Department said Richard Carter, 61, of Beacon, was arrested Thursday and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and petit larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.
Police said, around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to investigate a possible shoplifter at Macy’s in the Jefferson Valley Mall.

Officers located and detained Carter, who was found to have stolen items from Macy’s and Lens Crafters, police said. He was also in possession of crack cocaine.
He was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Carter was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Jail. His next court appearance is Nov. 11.
