Dutchess Woman Accused Of Driving Without License, Interlock Device
Police were initially sent to investigate a two-car automobile accident.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Poughkeepsie woman was accused of driving without a license or an alcohol detection device in her car in Yorktown.
The Yorktown Police Department said Tatiana Varela, 32, of the town of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator and operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, misdemeanors, and improper left turn and operating with an expired registration, traffic infractions.
According to police, around 6:45 p.m. Friday, an officer was sent to Route 6 and the Taconic State Parkway for a motor vehicle accident.

An investigation found that Varela’s driving privilege in New York was suspended for failure to answer a summons. Also, she was operating her car without a required ignition interlock device.
She was arrested and processed at the scene.

Varela was issued uniform traffic tickets and released on her own recognizance.
She is scheduled to answer the charges in the Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 28.
