Monday June 28

351 high school seniors joyfully received their diplomas at the Yorktown High School graduation at SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center and we had pictures to show you from the Saturday event. School is out for the summer, and teens shared their struggles and gave advice for finding part-time summer jobs. Police caught and arrested armed robbery suspect who stole $15,000 from a jewelry store.

Tueday June 29

We looked at the debate over the Patriot Skate Park. Two Yorktown players were awarded the annual Yorktown Athletic Club Softball Scholarship. A family went to court to discuss the fate of their pit bull that attacked and seriously injured one of their neighbors. Another young girl was attacked by a coyote in Rye Tuesday evening while playing in her fenced backyard.

Wednesday June 30

A look at the Shrub Oak baseball squad. We had the advice Coldwell Banker representatives gave to first time homebuyers and homeowners looking to sell at an event at the John C. Hart Memorial Library. Obituary of former Yorktown Parks and Recreation superintendent Brian J. Slavin, who died in his home on Monday. 

Thursday July 1

The first summer concert was kicked off by a Bruce Sprinsteen Tribute Band which played on Sunday at the gazebo, and we had coverage of it. With July 4th festivities approaching, Yorktown residents were warned of the dangers of setting off fireworks. Twilight mania kicked off in Westchester. We had review of the Men's Softball League game between the Independents and Somers Discount Liquors. 

Friday July 2

We had the police blotter and uncovered some of the incidents YPD had to deal with, including a man who hooked up a hose to a fire hydrant to fill up his pool. It's the season of grilling and outdoor barbeque-ing, so we compared different grills. Funeral for former Brian Slavin was held on Thursday and we had coverage of the emotional and respectful service for the beloved member of the community. We had important information for cyclists in Westchester. 

Saturday July 3

We profiled the Yorktown recreational swim team. The Heights Bakery and Cafe gave tips on how to make sugar cookies and decorate them yourself for the Fourth of July. The little ones of the community were invited to take an impromptu trip around the world by using their imagination for the Animal Party adventure at the Hart library. 

Sunday July 4

An early Saturday accident on the Taconic Parkway, still under investigation, sends one person to the hospital. Two athletes, Conor Prunty and Justin Mabus, who are friends off the field but play on long time rivalry teams, find their stars rising together. We asked town board members how they would be spending their Fourth of July holiday weekend.
