1. 'Couples Cooking' Together at Hilltop Hanover Farm

"Couples cooking," a class offered by Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown, will help you, your spouse, partner, date or friend learn how to make delicious recipes using the farm's fresh produce. 4. Westchester Volunteers Help Hurricane Issac Victims

When Hurricane Isaac slammed into the Gulf Coast in late August, residents hundreds of miles away in the Lower Hudson Valley were quick to pitch in. Volunteers from the Westchester Red Cross chapter made their way south, battling through dangerous floods and powerful rains to deliver food, blankets and other forms of relief. Fall Equinox is Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10:49 a.m. but it won't feel like fall with temperatures in the 70s. 

Here is the weekend forecast, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 71. 
  • Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • A slight chance of showers before 11 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
