Frederick H. 'Duke' Ducady, Jr., Former Yorktown Fire Chief, Dies
The lifelong Yorktown Heights resident was 86 years old.

Frederick H. “Duke” Ducady, Jr. a lifelong Yorktown Heights resident died May 7, 2013. He was 86.
Duke was born in Yorktown on Feb. 19, 1927 the son of Frederick H. and Mary Ducady. He served in the US Navy as Fireman First Class during WWII. Duke was a welder for Metro North Railroad, retiring in 1987 after 41 years.

He was a 70 year Life member of Yorktown Heights Engine Co. #1; where he held the rank of Chief and Fire Police Captain. He was a Life member of No. Westchester Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Life member of Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association, member of Putnam No. Westchester Fire Police Association, Fireman’s Association of the State of New York, Volunteer Fire Police Association State of New York, Yorktown American Legion Post #1009, Yorktown VFW Post #8328, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Duke was married to Ann (Smith), she predeceased him in 1994. He is survived by his son Frederick H. Ducady, III, his sister Ellen Sabo and his companion Grace Reynolds and many nieces and nephews. His brothers John and Leo Ducady predeceased him.

Memorial visitation Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, Pleasantville, NY. Graveside service Saturday 11 AM, Amawalk Hill Cemetery, Yorktown Heights, NY.
