The president visited Poughkeepsie Thursday and toured one of IBM's facilities. What do you think of his job performance so far?

NEW YORK — President Joe Biden made his first visit to the Hudson Valley Thursday as he toured the IBM facility in Poughkeepsie and spoke about creating jobs in the technology sector.
The president took time to talk about the recently passed CHIPS & Science Act, saying it would bring about technology that was vital for the country’s economy as well as its security.
Biden also had praise for an announcement from IBM that the company would invest $20 billion over the next decade to bolster research and development and the manufacture of semiconductors, mainframe tech, artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

The poll, conducted at the end of September, found that Biden’s approval rating is up and his disapproval rating is down.
According to the Marist Poll, the president’s job approval rating is now 44 percent among Americans. That is up from 41 percent in September and is the highest rating for Biden since last March when it was 47 percent.
In July, his approval rating was 36 percent and has creeped up each month since then, according to the Marist Poll.
The president’s job disapproval is now down to 49 percent. That number is down from July and August — when it was 57 percent — and September — when it was 54 percent.
Marist’s poll said that Biden has also regained some of his Democratic base. Now, 87 percent of Dems, up from 79 percent in September, approve of his job performance. Also, fewer independents disapproval of how the president is performing — 51 percent, down from 59 percent.
The NPR/Marist Poll surveyed 1,690 adults 18 years old or older living in the United States. The calls were made between Sept. 27 and Sept. 29. The margin of error is ±4 percentage points.
