Fundraiser for Meghan Sullivan, IHOP, Pizza Hut Expected to Open at the End of June

Here are five things you need to know May 18 to May 20.

1. 

Tech students at BOCES will be selling sandwiches, snacks, pizza and candy all day Friday, May 18, to raise money to establish a scholarship in memory of Meghan Sullivan.

Meghan, 17, died May 1, along with her parents and sister, when their . Her classmates in the Medical Assistant program at Tech said they wanted to find a way to keep Meghan's memory alive.

2. IHOP, Pizza Hut Expected to Open at the End of June

Yorktown councilman Nick Bianco announced earlier this week that the owners of the new IHOP, Pizza Hut/TCBY located in the former Charlie Brown building in Mohegan Lake, expect to open by the end of June.

3. Take Steps Toward a Cure

Take Steps - Westchester will take place on Sunday, May 20 at  in Yorktown. Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis is CCFA's largest fundraising event. Participants raise funds and awareness throughout the year and come together to celebrate the steps that have been taken towards a cure. The check in and festival start at 4 p.m. and the walk starts at 5 p.m.

4. Outdoor Exploration of Hilltop Hanover Farm

and and the Westchester Land Trust are having a grand opening this Sunday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. of the latest Quest, an outdoor exploration related to the farm's unique geography and climate. Enjoy crafts, music, food and hands-on workshops and demos on a variety of arts, including keeping chickens and bees, making bread and cheese, and composting and rainwater harvesting. For more information, tickets and directions, click here.

5. Crib Tent Recall

Thousands of crib tents sold by several major retailers are being recalled due to a "serious safety risk," state and federal official said. Refunds will be made available to consumers who have purchased any of the recalled crib tents or play yard tents made by Tots in Mind, Inc. to read the full story.

According to the National Weather Service, the sunny, warm weather will continue into the weekend. On Friday, temperatures are expected to be in the high 72. Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 77. Sunday will be another beautiful, warm day – it's expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
