Update: Jefferson Valley Mall Reopens After It Closed Due to Power Outage
Doors at the mall did not open today due to loss of electricity. Power outage also closed the JV mall on June 23.
Hundreds of shoppers and employees were turned away as they approached the entrances of the Jefferson Valley Mall, which was closed due to loss of electricity.
The parking lot of the usually busy shopping mall was almost completely empty earlier today as the mall did not open at all. They lost power sometime overnight.
A spokesperson for Con Ed said it is the customer's problem and they will bill them for it. Con Ed could not comment on what the origin of the electricity loss.

Two weeks ago, on June 23, the mall lost power and it took two day to restore power. The power outage was due to an underground line that contained break and needed to be repaired, officials said.
Con Ed has fixed the problem in both instances.

Here is a statement the Jefferson Valley Mall management issued on the day of the second power outage:
"Earlier today, Jefferson Valley Mall experienced a loss of electrical power. All tenants remained closed and testing was conducted to determine the source of the issue. As of 5:00 p.m. on July 9, power has been restored to the mall, Macy's and Sears. The mall has officially reopened for business, with the exception of Movies at Jefferson Valley, which will remain closed for the evening."
Shoppers and mall employees were advised to call the Shopping Line at (914) 245-4200 for information and any additional updates.
"Whenever a situation like this occurs, our first priority is the safety and security of our shoppers, tenants and mall employees," the JV mall management said."As soon as the power outage occurred, Jefferson Valley Mall management took swift action, in the interest of public safety, to evacuate the premises in an orderly fashion and keep customers away from the exterior location where the work was being done. Additional measures were in place for roadway blockages into and out of the property. The mall reopened once utility officials and engineers determined it was safe and appropriate to do so."
