Junior Lake Pool at Memorial Park Opens Today

Take your bathing suits out and pack your beach towels because the Junior Lake Pool at Memorial Park is officially opening for the summer season today. 

"We are looking forward to providing our residents with a fun-filled summer," said , the town's superintendent of the parks and recreation department. 

Junior Lake Pool, which will be open on weekends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., has a diving board into the main pool and a slide pool.

According to the town's website, the pool will be open every day starting June 4 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (until June 22) and from June 25 to Aug. 17 from noon to 7 p.m. The end of the season will be on Aug. 19.

The Brian J. Slavin Aquatic Facility at Shrub Oak Park, which is the other pool Yorktown residents can use, opens on June 9 and will be open until Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3) for residents to take a dip.

The pool has a separate diving pool and an interactive pool with water spray features. It will be open on weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Both facilities (the Shrub Oak Park pool and the Junior Lake Pool) have a zero depth entry kiddie pool with a maximum depth of 18 inches.  

Yorktown residents wishing to gain access at each pool facility must present a valid Parks and Recreation Department ID. Pool passes can be obtained at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building at Sparkle Lake. The hours are: weekdays (May 7 through July 13) from 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m, May 8 through July 5 extended hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. The office will also be open on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (May 12 to July 7).
