Katonah 18-Year-Old Skips Court, Gets Arrested: Police

Police said the teen was originally charged with reckless driving and driving without a license.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Westchester County 18-year-old was accused of not showing up for a court appearance.

The Yorktown Police Department said the 18-year-old Katonah resident, whose name is not being released because of youthful offender status, was charged Monday with arrest warrant for failure to appear for an appearance ticket.

The court appearance was for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and reckless driving, misdemeanors, and multiple traffic infractions.

On April 11, police said the teen didn’t appear in Yorktown Justice Court to answer the original charges. An arrest warrant was issued, according to authorities.

On Monday, Yorktown police received a call from the Carmel police who said they had the 18-year-old in custody on unrelated charges.

Yorktown police verified there was an active arrest warrant and officers were sent to Carmel where they placed him under arrest.

The teen was taken to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

The 18-year-old is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court May 2.
