Lakeland Voters Overwhelmingly Approve 2022-23 Budget
There were 12 candidates for the four open positions on the Board of Education.
SHRUB OAK, NY — The Lakeland school district asked voters to go to the polls Tuesday to approve a $175.7 million budget for the 2022-23 school year.
The spending package, which represented a 4.41 percent budget-to-budget increase, was approved 2,159 to 856, according to unofficial results.
The district also had voters decide whether to purchase various school buses and vehicles in the amount of $1.36 million. The proposition was approved.

It also asked voters to approve the transfer of funds from unappropriated, unassigned fund balance at the end of each school year to the repair reserve fund, up to a maximum amount of $3.5 million over 5 years. The proposition was approved.
There were 12 people running to fill four trustee positions on the Board of Education.

Incumbents Marianne DiSalvo Kolesar and Adam Kaufman and Michael Marchese were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Education (expiring June 30, 2025). Incumbent Becky Burfeind was elected to a two+ year term on the Board of Education (expiring June 30, 2024).
