Lakeland School Budget Results Announced

Voters in the Lakeland school district were asked to OK a spending plan of $184.5 million.

SHRUB OAK, NY — Voters in the Lakeland school district went to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve the 2023-24 budget.

The proposed spending plan of $184.5 million was approved 943 to 306, according to unofficial results.

The budget is 5.05 percent higher than the current budget. District officials said they were focused on maintaining all current curricular, co-curricular and interscholastic programs.

There was also a proposition for vehicles. The district was asking for the voters to approve a bond up to $1,486,000 for the purpose of various school buses and vehicles. It passed 959 to 286, according to unofficial results.

Four candidates were running to fill three three-year positions on the Board of Education. The winners are incumbent Donald B. Pinkowsky, Christopher Eustace and Bryan Hoben.
