Lakeland School District Voters OK $57M Capital Project
The capital project will address improvements across the district and provide each school with educational enhancements.

SHRUB OAK, NY — Voters in the Lakeland school district passed a $57 million capital project Tuesday with a vote of 444 to 173.
According to a district spokesperson, the capital project will address improvements across the district and provide each school with educational enhancements, as well as important infrastructure repairs and improvements.
It includes renovation of library media centers and creating new STEAM centers in all eight schools, the district said.

Those spaces will allow Lakeland students to access 21st-century learning opportunities.
There will also be repairs to the district’s infrastructure to create optimal learning environments, including HVAC upgrades, fire alarm system enhancements, roofing improvements and more.

The $57 million capital project is tax neutral, the district said, and will be funded through the district’s Capital Reserve Fund and the New York State Building Aid.
