Lane Closures in Somers, Gwen Laster Performs at the Winery, Storm Front Moves Out
Here are five things you need to know today, Sept. 19.
1. Lane Closures in Somers
In Somers Route 202, between Route 100/Somerstown Road and Route 139/Dale Avenue, will be closed for paving starting today.
Weather permitting, the necessary closures will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 19 and end on Friday, Sept. 28. Work hours will occur during the nighttime starting at 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

2. Gwen Laster to Perform at the Winery
Gwen Laster will perform at the Winery at St. George today. She has collaborated with popular artists such as Alicia Keys, Rhianna and Aretha Franklin and she has performed on The View and The Today Show.

The show starts at 8 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the stage seating are $15; general admission is $10.
3. Storm Front Moves Out
In Yorktown and Somers in particular, the NWS forecast calls for heavy rain, totaling up to two inches, before the storm front moves out Wednesday night.
Today, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. It's expected to be cloudy through mid morning, with high temperatures near 68.
4. Scheduled Delivery of Yellowbook
From the town of Yorktown: Yellowbook will be delivering its Westchester County Directory between Nov. 28 and Jan. 9, 2013. Residents have the choice to opt-out of this delivery by visiting www.yellopagesoptout.com. The Yellowbook Directory is 100% recyclable and old books may be recycled in your curbside bin.Recycled books are made into new phone books, cellulose insulation and used to make packaging such as boxes and containers.
5. Politicians' Roundtable
U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey and State Assembly member Sandra Galef will join State Senate candidate Justin Wagner at the Mt. Kisco Public Library today at 9 a.m. to discuss the issues of "pay equality, paycheck fairness, and the gender-based wage gap."
