Leon Glinski Turns 100 [Photos]

The man, who lives in Mohegan Lake, was born on Oct. 5, 1912. He worked at the Brooklyn Military Navy yard refurbishing military ships and later started his own trucking company.

Leon Glinski, a resident of North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Care in Mohegan Lake, celebrated his 100th birthday on Friday, Oct. 5 with three generations of family.

His daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter and friends were there to celebrate with him.

Glinski was born on Oct. 5, 1912 in Rhode Island to Polish immigrants who eventually brought the family to Yonkers. Glinski worked at the Brooklyn Military Navy yard refurbishing military ships.

He later started his own trucking company, which he called L & H Empty Drums (the "L" for Leon and the "H" for Helen, his wife). Glinski has six great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Yorktown Councilman Vishnu Patel presented Glinski a Birthday Greeting Certificate on behalf of Yorktown town board members.
