LI Man Skips Court, Gets Arrested Again: Police
He failed to show up for court when he was accused of forging a document.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Long Island man was accused of not showing up for a scheduled court appearance.
The Yorktown Police Department said Den A. Ortega, 20, of Wyandanch, Suffolk County, was charged Tuesday with third-degree bail jumping, a misdemeanor.
According to police, around 6 p.m. Sept. 26, Ortega did not appear in the Yorktown Justice Court for a scheduled appearance regarding a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor.

The court issued a bench warrant for him for failure to appear.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Ortega surrendered himself at the Yorktown Police Headquarters. He was taken into custody and began arrest processing.

Ortega was brought before a judge who set bail in the amount of $1,000.
He was able to post bail and was turned over to the custody of the Peekskill Police Department for an outstanding warrant.
Ortega is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 21.
