Mahopac Man Accused Of Stealing From Dick's Sporting Goods
Besides taking more than $1,000 in merchandise, police said the fled from the scene and resisted arrest.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mahopac man was accused of stealing $1,000 worth of merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The Yorktown Police Department said Maxwell David Hoefer, 29, of Mahopac, was arrested Tuesday and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, misdemeanors.
Police said, shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to Dick’s Sporting Goods for a report of a larceny in progress. They were told that the suspect fled on foot.

Officers obtained a description of the person at which time police located Hoefer in the parking lot of the Jefferson Valley Mall.
According to the police, Hoefer fled by foot and was chased by an officer who eventually found him. He resisted arrest by struggling to get away from the officers and prevented him from placing him in handcuffs.

Authorities said Hoefer stole assorted merchandise from the store totaling more than $1,000.
He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing.
Hoefer was issued an appearance ticket and then turned over to the Mount Pleasant Police Department on an unrelated warrant.
He is scheduled to answer the charges in the Yorktown Justice Court Oct. 17.
