Mahopac Woman Accused Of Having Forged Temporary License Plate

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mahopac woman was accused of driving without a license and having a fake temporary license plate.

The Yorktown Police Department said Melissa Dabbs, 52, of Mahopac, was charged Tuesday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, misdemeanors, and covered/obstructed license plate, a traffic infraction.

Police said an officer on Route 6 said he saw a car with a covered rear license plate.

After stopping the car, Dabbs was identified as the driver, police said.

A check of driver's records found that her license was suspended, and police said, the temporary license plate affixed to the vehicle was forged.

She was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Dabbs was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket, after which she was released on her own recognizance.

She is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court June 30.
