Man Accused Of Driving More Than 2 Times Legal Alcohol Limit

Yorktown police said the Mohegan Lake man was also following too closely to another car.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mohegan Lake man was accused of driving while more than twice the legal limit for alcohol.

The Yorktown Police Department said an officer was conducting traffic enforcement on East Main Street around 6:10 p.m. Saturday when he saw a car that was following another too closely and suing its horn improperly.

The car was stopped and Thomas Hughes, 48, of Mohegan Lake, was identified as the driver.

Police said he man was driving while intoxicated by alcohol and he was arrested.

At police headquarters, it was determined Hughes was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent of more.

He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated BAC 0.18 percent or more and driving while intoxicated first offense, both misdemeanors, and following too closely and improper use of horn, traffic infractions.

Hughes was issued traffic tickets for the charges and released to a responsible adult.

He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court June 23.
