Man Steals $40,000 For Construction Work Not Performed: PD

Authorities said the money was paid in January 2021 for a job that wasn't done.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Dutchess County man was arrested after being accused of stealing $40,000 he was paid for a job he didn’t do.

The Yorktown Police Department said Ryan Giorgio, 32, of Fishkill, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant Wednesday with the underlying charge being third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police said, on Jan. 31, 2021, Giorgio was involved in a civil dispute over taking $40,000 from the victim for construction work that he never did. He also never returned the money to the victim, according to law enforcement.

An arrest warrant was issued for Giorgio, and on Wednesday, state police contacted Yorktown police. They said they had the man in custody on unrelated charges.

He was taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

Giorgio was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.

He was directed to appear in court Oct. 25.
