Man Without License Drives Past Stopped School Bus: Yorktown Police
The Yorktown Police Department said the school bus had its stop sign displayed and was flashing its red lights.
YORKTOWN, NY — A New York City man was accused of not stopping for a school bus, which led to other charges.
The Yorktown Police Department said Jerlin Munoz Veras, 25, of New York, was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and fail to stop for a school bus, no seatbelt and unregistered motor vehicle, traffic infractions.
Police said, around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers on patrol on Route 202 saw a car pass a school bus that was stopped and displaying a stop sign and red flashing lights.

The officers stopped the car on Route 202 and identified Veras as the driver.
A check of his license status found it was suspended, police said.

Veras was also driving an unregistered motor vehicle without a seatbelt, according to law enforcement.
He was arrested and processed at the scene.
After being issued traffic tickets, Veras was released on his own recognizance to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court May 4.
