As the investigation continued, Perez said he was robbed and shot at two times during the robbery.

Police said they determined the man falsely reported that the car was stolen and that he was robbed and shot at.

Perez had, in actuality, crashed his car into a rock wall on Strawberry Road, police said.

Around 11 a.m. Monday, he voluntarily appeared at the police headquarters wanting to speak to officers about his case.

Perez was placed under arrest.
