More Than 20K Central Hudson Customers Without Electricity

Hardest hit is Dutchess County, with more than 10,000 customers waiting for the power to come back on.

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — More than 20,000 Central Hudson customers are waiting for power to return during the snowy and winder nor’easter affecting the region.

As of 11 a.m., the most outages are affecting Dutchess County, with about 10,500 customers affected.

Hardest hit is LaGrange with more than 1,300 outages and Union Vale with more than 1,100.

Storm damage is being assessed, the company said, so there is no estimated time of restoration.

Ulster County is seeing more than 5,600 power outages.

The largest numbers are:

  • Esopus: 811
  • Lloyd: 600
  • Plattekill: 1,385
  • Woodstock: 817

Again there are not yet any estimates for restoration.

Ryan Hawthorne, vice president of electric engineering and operations, said Central Hudson’s crews are working to make repairs and restore power to our customers as safely and quickly as possible.

"In addition to our full complement of internal crews and contractors, we’ve secured mutual aid from New York, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Connecticut, and Iowa," he said. "In total, Central Hudson expects to have a field force of nearly 550 line and tree professionals working to address more than 400 individual damage locations."
