Police: Man Stuffed Pockets with Pills Bottles Rattling Like a "Maracas Band;" Shopping Spree Ends with Arrest

Andres W. Arias, 30, of Yonkers, is charged with two petit larcenies, a criminal contempt, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

A Yonkers man is accused of stuffing his pockets with multiple pills bottles, and as he exited the CVS store on Commerce Street his "bulging pants" were "rattling like a large maracas band," police said.

As Andres W. Arias, 30, left the store on Monday, July 26 at 10:43 a.m. he set off the security alarms. A CVS employee called police and gave them the suspect's physical description and vehicle information.  At 11 a.m. police stopped the suspect on the Taconic State Parkway and arrested him.

Arias is charged with two misdemeanors of petit larceny, a second degree criminal contempt, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

In addition, it is alleged that the suspect violated an order or protection barring him from visiting a CVS employee.

Following processing at the Yorktown Police Department, Arias was arraigned in court and released on $1,000 bail.
