Police: Teen Arrested for Breaking Glass; Man Steals Clothing from Macy's

Phoenix Academy Teen Resident Arrested for Breaking Glass

Yorktown police investigating broken glass in a door at the Phoenix Academy on Sept. 11 arrested a 15-year-old Queens teen who allegedly did the damage, police said. 

The teen, a temporary resident of the Phoenix Academy, was charged with juvenile delinquency. Had he been over 16 years old, he would have been charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

The teen, whose name police did not release, was processed at the scene and released to Phoenix Academy staff. He was scheduled to appear at the Westchester County Department of Probation on Sept. 25.

A 56-year-old Peekskill man faces a misdemeanor petty larceny charge for allegedly stealing clothing from ,  said. 

Police received a call from Macy's security personnel reporting a male customer in custody. The defendant allegedly exited the store without paying for assorted clothing, valued at $197.73. He was processed at police headquarters and scheduled to appear in  on Oct. 4.

Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

A 23-year-old Yorktown man is due in court next month to answer charges that he allegedly drove with a suspended license, police said.

The man was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; and speeding, a traffic infraction. 

His vehicle was stopped on Sept. 4 when police observed him to be allegedly speeding on Mohansic Avenue. A routine check with the Department of Motor Vehicles revealed his license was allegedly suspended. The defendant was released on $50 bail and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 4. 

Man Charged with Speeding, Driving with Suspended License

A 69-year-old Connecticut man, who was stopped for speeding in Yorktown, faces several charges after police said he was found to be driving with a suspended license.

The man was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; and speeding, a traffic infraction. 

He was stopped by police on Sept. 4 for allegedly speeding on Route 134. A DMV check revealed his licensed was allegedly suspended for failing to answer a summons. The man was released on $50 cash bail and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 4.  

Man Issued Summons for Letting Dogs Run at Large

A 52-year-old Yorktown man has been charged with allowing his dogs to run at large, which is a Yorktown town code violation, police said. 

On Sept. 7 police investigated a report that allegedly two dogs, running in traffic on Route 202 near Baldwin Road, were creating a hazard, police said. When two police officers arrived at the scene, they found "traffic backed up with pedestrians in the roadway attempting to catch the dogs," police said. The owner of the dogs was issued summons and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 2. 

Speeding in School Zone, Driving with Suspended Registration

A 42-year-old Cortlandt man has been arrested for driving with a suspended registration, Yorktown police said. 

The man was stopped by police on Sept. 10 at about 9:09 a.m. for allegedly speeding in a school zone. A DMV check revealed his license was suspended for an alleged insurance lapse in June 2012. The defendant was charged with operating with a suspended license, a misdemeanor; and speeding, a traffic infraction. 

He was released on $100 bail and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16.

Man Speeds, Has Open Alcohol Container In Car, Drives with Suspended License and Registration

A 35-year-old Ossining man faces a number of charges in Yorktown after he allegedly was found to be speeding, driving with suspended license and registration and having an open alcohol container in his vehicle, police said. 

His vehicle was stopped on Sept. 7 for allegedly speeding on Route 134. He was charged with driving a vehicle with a suspended license and registration, misdemeanors; as well as having an open container of alcohol and speeding, traffic infractions.

The defendant was placed under arrest and processed at police headquarters. He was released on $200 cash bail and was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 11.
