Police to Bring Dry Ice to Critical Somers Neighborhoods
NYSEG has been made aware of all the road closures in Somers and town officials have prioritized major state roads to be cleared.

An "extremely limited" dry ice was obtained from NYSEG Wednesday afternoon, Somers Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy said.
To avoid lines and expectations that cannot be fulfilled, police will bring to critical neighborhoods as supply lasts. Each day they will go to different neighborhoods until NYSEG improves the supply situation, she said. Officials did not say what areas they would bring dry ice to.
"I realize that this is inconvenient and am pushing NYSEG for additional supply," Murphy said Wednesday afternoon. "At this time NYSEG has not provided us with any restoration times for the 95% of the residents in Somers out of power. They have relayed that they had geared up throughout the state not being sure where Sandy would hit hardest and are now moving more assets to our region."

"Somers has been blessed so far in this storm with no injuries or fatalities," Murphy said earlier today. "We cannot risk injury to a child. Thank you for your understanding."
Murphy said NYSEG officials have been focusing on assessing and restoring their transmission lines – 22 transmission lines and 5 substations are out. There is currently no restoration time available from NYSEG.
