Pro-Costco Group Forms; Lakeland's Homecoming and Carnival; Free Coffee on National Coffee Day

Here are five things you need to know Sept. 28 to Sept. 30.

1. Lakeland's Homecoming and Carnival

Friday night is Lakeland High School's Homecoming and carnival, starting at 4 p.m. The football game begins at 7 p.m.

2. Yorktown's Homecoming

Friday is also Yorktown High School's homecoming at Walter Panas High School. While Saturday, Sept. 29 is the all day Homecoming event, according to the school district's website, including a bonfire at 6 p.m. and a dance at 7 p.m.

3. Costco's Developer Starts a 'Pro-Group'

A pro-Costco group is fighting back and will respond to comments made by residents opposed to the project. 

Members of the newly formed "Citizens for a Progressive Yorktown" group will hold a press conference today at 9:30 a.m. outside the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce on Route 202. 

4. National Coffee Day is Sept. 29 (Free Coffee)

If the first words out of your mouth every morning are "I’ll have a large coffee"—or if you can’t even speak until after you’ve had your java fix—there's a national holiday created especially for you. Check back with Patch later today on where you could get your free coffee. 

5. Good Yorktown, Somers Neighbors
