YORKTOWN, NY — Racist and antisemitic words and images were spray painted under a bridge in the town of Yorktown.

Police said the graffiti was found where the Taconic State Parkway passes over Croton Dam Road, which is located just south of the AMVETS Memorial Bridge, which is the northbound Taconic over the reservoir.

In a statement from the Yorktown Police Department, officials said the incident is considered to be bias-motivated.

Officers said several unassociated cartoon-type characters were spray painted along with the initials "JJC," which may have a nexus to the spray-painted statement "Jackson C. Hates N*****S". There was also an antisemitic statement that was not revealed by police.

All of the graffiti was made with the same color blue paint, suggesting it was done by the same person and at the same time.

While the graffiti was reported on Saturday, police said the investigation so far leads them to believe the crime was committed prior to Saturday.

Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater told News 12 that the town condemns the action and is taking it very seriously.

The police department asks anyone who may have information that could help identify the person responsible to call 914-962-4141 and speak with a detective. Tips may also be emailed.
