Robert Merson, of Troop 164, Earns Eagle Scout Award
For his project, Merson managed a team of volunteers who built 40 picnic tables at FDR Park in Yorktown.
Boy Scouts Troop 164's newest Eagle Scout is Robert Andrew Merson, who was presented with the highest scouting award on April 13 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.
Yorktown councilman Vishnu Patel congratulated Merson on behalf of the Yorktown town board and presented him with a certificate of achievement.
Merson's Eagle Scout project consisted of organizing a group of more than 20 volunteers to benefit the Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown. Over a two-day period he managed the team of volunteers in digging and pouring concrete for two cement bases for installation of large BBQ grills on the second day. He also supervised and helped build 40 picnic tables.
