HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Severe weather is a possibility Friday in much of the Hudson Valley.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Ulster counties.

The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.

Meteorologists said there is a marginal to slight risk for severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon and early evening.

A few instances of large hail and damaging wind gusts will be possible.

Additionally, isolated flash flooding will be possible where multiple heavy downpours occur.
