Somers: Blacksmithing Workshop; Gifts for Mom; History Lesson

Nature Centers in Westchester County are holding a number of events open to the public this weekend, including several in Somers.

The blacksmithing workshop is open for adults ages 18 and up. The event will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The cost is $85; pre-registration required.

The art exhibit “Hooked rugs by Mary Parker: An American Folk Art Goes Local” will be on view in the Main House Gallery on Saturday, May 4 from noon to 4 p.m. It will feature a collection of hooked rugs designed and created by artist and fiber craftsman Mary Tooley Parker.

Children can make mom their own personal gift for Mother’s Day this Sunday, May 5 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Learn about the history of the park with the horticulturist and tour the Lasdon Main House on Sunday, May 5 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are required.
