Somers Fire Department Ready for Prevention Week
The fire department is hosting an Open House and demonstration on Sunday, Oct. 14.

Do you have an escape plan if your house catches fire? What about a second plan if your first one isn't possible?
The National Fire Protection Association's website states "when fire strikes, your home could be engulfed in smoke and flames in just a few minutes." To help educate the public about fire safety and to recruit new members, local fire departments are holding open houses in honor of fire prevention week, held this year from Oct. 7 - 13.
The Somers Volunteer Fire Department is opening its doors to residents on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Firefighters will be holding demonstrations and provide food for attendees at their informational booths.
