Somers Man Charged with Impersonation, Stolen Property and Drug Possession

A 32-year-old Somers man faces a number of criminal charges, including impersonation, stolen property and drug possession, after he was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, Yorktown police said.
Nickolas G. Rigano was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree criminal impersonation of public servant, seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substance, all misdemeanors; as well as multiple traffic violations.
The man was pulled over during a routine stop on Sept. 17 for not wearing a seat belt and identified himself as a New York State Corrections Officer, police said. His vehicle was towed for further investigation because the plates did not match the vehicle, according to a police report.

Investigation revealed the man was in possession of stolen license plates and had falsely identified himself as a New York State Corrections Officer, police said. In addition, Rigano was illegally in possession of a quantity of Clonazepam, police said.
Rigano turned himself into police headquarters on Sept. 30 when he was placed under arrest. He was issued multiple traffic citations and released. Rigano was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 30.
