Somers Schools Voters Approve 2022-23 Budget

Results were announced for the capital reserve fund proposition and trustees election.

SOMERS, NY — Voters in the Somers school district went to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve a $100.9 million budget for the 2022-23 school year.

The spending package, which was $3.5 million or 3.59 percent more than the current budget, was approved 973 to 461, according to unofficial results.

Also on the ballot was a proposition for the establishment of a $10 million capital reserve fund for the purpose, of improvements, repairs, reconstruction and renovation of and additions to school district buildings, facilities and athletic fields. It was approved.

There were also three open seats for the Board of Education and four candidates. The winners were incumbents Ifay Chang and Chadwick Olsen and Amanda Kandel. Kenneth Mitchell was also on the ballot.
