Teen Kicks Fire Extinguisher, Causes Damage to Wall at Phoenix Academy, Cops Say

The teen, who is a student at the facility for troubled boys, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Yorktown police have arrested a 17-year-old Mount Vernon teen for kicking a fire extinguisher and causing damage to a wall at the Phoenix Academy in Shrub Oak.

The teen, who is a student at the facility for troubled boys, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. 

Police said they received the report on April 20 at about 3:14 p.m. When the teen kicked a fire extinguisher, he made a hole in the sheetrock wall and caused damage to the fire extinguisher, police said. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown police department for processing.

He was released to the custody of Phoenix Academy staff. He was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on May 21.
