Teen Vandalizes $3,000 Worth of Signs, Lawn, Fence at Somers Commons Shopping Plaza

A 19-year-old Bronx teen, formerly of Mahopac, is facing criminal charges in Somers for damaging several signs, sections of lawn and fencing within the Somers Commons Shopping Plaza, state troopers said. 

The teen was arrested on Sept. 24 following the Sept. 9 incident, which police said occurred overnight. Investigation, conducted by New York State Police at Somers in conjunction with Somers Police Department officers, revealed the teen had caused $3,000 worth of damages to the plaza, located on Route 6. 

While operating his 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, he intentionally damaged several signs, sections of lawn and fencing within the plaza, police said. 

The teen was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony. 

He was scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on Oct. 1.
