Thousands Pray for 'Little Fighter,' BOCES Takes Pay Freeze, Weekend Events and More

Here are five things you need to know Oct. 5 to Oct. 7.

1. Street Fair and Festival, Cancer Walk, Pumpkin Picking

2. BOCES Administrators and Supervisors Agree to Pay Freeze

The Administrators and Supervisors Association of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES has agreed to a one-year pay freeze as part of its new three-year contract. The new contract calls for a zero percent increase in 2012- 2013; a flat $2,000 increase in 2013-2014 along with a one-time $2,000 stipend; and a $3,000 increase in 2014-2015.

For the last three weeks—since receiving word that their son's cancer has returned—the Campbell family of Pawling has seen an outpouring of compassion. Thousands prayed for the recovery of Ty Louis who turned five on Thursday. Read more in our story, here.

4. Yorktown Teen Center Open Mic

The first Open Mic night of the season will be held on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the YCCC Senior Nutrition Center. Teens will perform great acoustic music, covers and originals. 

5. Paramount Theater Suspends Operations

The board of directors for the Paramount Center for the Arts announced Wednesday activities are being suspended at the theater so officials can ‘explore opportunities to reorganize.’ You can read the board’s statement here.
