"Because we had some very enlightened people back in the 18th century, we're here today. They were brave souls and they were willing to fight for what they believed in."
She commends them for creating the constitution, a well written document that has been survived over time.
"People should remember our finding fathers."
Jim Martorano:
"I will have family and friends over for the holiday. I think it's important to take a moment and reflect on the meaning of all our holidays. July 4th is a time to remember the bravery and vision of our founding fathers. Our Republic did not come without sacrifice, and the liberties our forefathers fought for and won should be cherished and appreciated."
"My favorite memory from my childhood is spending summers in Milford Connecticut, on the 4th walking down to the sea wall and watching the fireworks which were being launched off Charles Island, a small island right off the shore. It marked the beginning of summer, which as a kid I always relished especially being lucky enough to spend it at a beach community (Laurel Beach)."
Nick Biano:
"I will celebrate the 4th of July like I have been doing every year since I moved to Yorktown in 1972 with a family barbeque at my home. My wife and I have enjoyed having over 30 people every year with all types of weather. We eat and enjoy ourselves. I invite my neighbors and for 30 years even as neighbors moved some come back. We start at 2 p.m. and usually end at about 11 p.m."
Vishnu Patel:
"We will be going to West Point for July 4th concert and firework display. We used to go to NYC, but the kids are not home and we are getting old. Due to the hot and humid weather, we are planning hot food to counteract hot weather. Happy July 4th."
Terrence Murphy:
"I always celebrate the Fourth of July in Cape Cod because that's where my wife and I got engaged, and we celebrate my birthday. We were up on the 4th this year and it was terriffic, lots of fireworks and great weather."
