Troopers: Mohegan Lake Woman Stabs Autistic Son with Knife

During a domestic altercation with her 19-year-old son, Evelyn Winters stabbed him with a knife and smashed his Xbox, state police said.

A 51-year-old Mohegan Lake woman is facing felony charges after she used a knife to stab her 19-year-old son, who has been diagnosed with autism, and smashed his Xbox console, New York State police said.

Evelyn Winters was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies. 

State troopers from the Cortlandt barracks responded to a domestic dispute on Lexington Avenue in Mohegan Lake on April 3 at about 5 p.m. Police said the woman stabbed her son with a knife causing a minor injury and also smashed his Xbox console.

The woman was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail. Winters is due to appear back in Cortlandt Town Court on April 8 at 9 a.m.
