Wallkill Man Avoids Arrest For Attempted ID Theft For A Year: Police
The court issued an arrest warrant in September, and it was finally served.
YORKTOWN, NY — An Orange County man was accused almost a year ago of trying to steal someone’s identity.
The Yorktown Police Department said Shawn A. Laury, 29, of Wallkill, was arrested Tuesday after being charged with first-degree attempted identity theft, a felony.
Police responded April 23 to All Seasons Wines & Spirits for a report of fraudulent checks.

An investigation found that the checks were signed and made payable to Laury.
An arrest warrant was issued out of the Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 20.

On Tuesday, the Clarkstown Police Department told the Yorktown police they had Laury in custody on an unrelated charge.
Yorktown police went to Circle Drive in Highland Falls and met with Clarkstown police. They took custody of Laury and executed the arrest warrant.
He was taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters for arrest processing.
Laury was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to return to the Yorktown Justice Court May 2.
