Wanted: Experienced Bagpipers and Drummers to Join Yorktown Irish Band
Yorktown Irish Pipes and Drums, a civilian band that performs throughout the county and the greater area, is looking for new members to join the group.
Yorktown Irish Pipes and Drums, a civilian band that performs throughout the county and the greater area, is looking for new members to join the group.
"We are looking for experienced bagpipers and drummers to join," said Chris Waugh, a pipe major and a member of the band since last April.
The band of the Irish American Social Club of Northern Westchester and Putnam County was founded by elder members of Irish American Social Club in 2000 to promote the music of their Irish heritage.

Band members perform at local parades and events, fire department parades, Memorial Day parades, high school graduations, St. Patrick's Day events, fundraisers and more.
"We are all local residents mostly from Yorktown who enjoy the Irish culture and music and enjoy representing our town," Waugh said. "We are always looking for new pipers and drummers."
