Westchester Man Killed When Excavator Overturns

While foul play is not suspected at this time, police said the incident is being investigated.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Westchester County resident was killed Friday in a construction site accident.

The Yorktown Police Department said, shortly after 2 p.m. Friday, a 59-year-old man was working with a local tree company when an excavator he was standing next to overturned.

Police said the man was declared dead at the scene.

His name is not being released pending notification of family.

Yorktown police, along with Empress EMS Paramedics, Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department and Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, responded to the accident scene.

While foul play is not suspected at this time, police said the incident is being investigated by the Town of Yorktown Police Department’s Detective Division, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety’s Forensic Investigation Unit and OSHA.
