White Plains Woman Accused Of Skipping Court Appearance

Police said she had originally been charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

YORKTOWN, NY — A White Plains woman was accused of not showing up for a scheduled court appearance.

The Yorktown Police Department said Praycious Leon, 29, of White Plains, was arrested on two bench warrants.

They were issued June 2 by Judge Cohen-Pierson of the Yorktown Justice Court for failing to appear with the underlying charges being second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failing to answer an appearance ticket.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Leon turned herself into Yorktown Police Department and was taken into custody.

After processing, she was brought before a judge who set bail at $2,500 cash, $5,000 secured bond or $10,000 partially secured bond.

Leon was unable to post bail, police said, and was sent to the Westchester County Department of Corrections. She is scheduled to appear Thursday in the Yorktown Justice Court.
